Regular Season Round 9: Zadar - Vienna 98-78

The biggest surprise took place in Zadar where host CroatianZadar (3-5) crushed league's leader Austrian BC Vienna (2-6) 98-78 on Friday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Zadar made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Zadar outrebounded Vienna 40-22 including 28 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Vienna helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Montenegrin point guard Vladimir Mihailovic (193-1990) who scored 42 points (!!!). Swingman Marko Ramljak (201-1993) chipped in 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Zadar players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Guinean guard Souley Boum (190-1999, college: Xavier) who recorded 28 points and Croatian swingman Lovre Runjic (197-2000) added 10 points respectively. BC Vienna's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Defending Croatian champion keeps a position of league leader which they share with defeated Vienna . Vienna lost fifth consecutive game. They still keep top place with six games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Spartak who have the same record.

The champion Vladimir Mihailovic demonstrated an outstanding performance in the match against Vienna, scoring an impressive 42 points, grabbing 3 rebounds, and providing 2 assists. His exceptional contribution was pivotal in securing the victory for his team. As a result of Mihailovic's remarkable display on the court, he was awarded the Elite Badge by eurobasket.com, recognizing his exceptional skills and impact in the game.
